Garage door guides for Toowoomba
Plain answers to common garage door questions, with links to the public sources behind them.
What does a garage door spring replacement involve?
A technician makes the door safe, releases any remaining spring tension, fits the new spring, re-tensions it to suit the door, and then checks the cables, rollers and balance. Springs hold a lot of stored energy, so manufacturers such as B&D advise against fixing them yourself.
What is a wind-rated garage door, and do I need one?
A wind-rated garage door has been tested to AS/NZS 4505. The Queensland Government says many doors made before the current standards were not reinforced and could not withstand the wind pressures of a severe weather event. Ask any installer for the door wind rating, the test paperwork, and how they will check the frame.
